The design concept for the space emanated from a simple freehand sketch provided by the chef. The line drawing depicted a long counter which provided an asymmetric balance to the space, creating a focal point within the interior as well as a working envelope for the chef. The interior reflects Japanese simplicity. All the elements of the interior are expressed in a plain, simple, natural manner whilst the selection of materials have an absence of pretense or artificiality.
